The Challenge

The 2019 Ford Ranger PX3 is the epitome of a modern mid-size pickup truck, boasting a perfect blend of ruggedness, versatility, and advanced technology. As a favourite among outdoor enthusiasts and urban commuters alike, the PX3 has already proven itself to be an impressive performer. However, for those who crave an adrenaline rush and desire to push the limits of their Ranger even further, power tuning presents an exciting opportunity.

In this post we are looking into how tuning the Ford Ranger PX3 can unlock the potential of this mighty truck. Do you have a Ford Ranger PX1 or a Ford Ranger PX2? Check out our blog post about the PX1 here and the PX2 here. We are using a 2019 Ford Ranger PX3 we have tuned as an example. The customer wanted more performance and better throttle response as the throttle on this model is quite unresponsive. It’s common to add on a ‘pedal box’ to change the throttle response, but we can do this inside the ECU.

The Solution

We read the factory ECU data, modify it to achieve the customer’s wishes, flash the ECU with the new software and log data to ensure everything is performing as it should. All of this was done using Alientech KESS3. We modify things such as torque limiters, throttle maps fuel injection limiters, injection timing, start of injection, VNT and turbo boost control along with a range of other maps we define in the ECU file.

Power tuning the 2019 Ford Ranger PX3 offers a thrilling opportunity to elevate its already impressive performance to new levels. With ECU remapping the resulting power gains will undoubtedly add excitement to your driving experience and transform your Ford Ranger PX3 into a high-performing powerhouse, making every journey an exhilarating adventure.

Further Benefits

Increased Power and Torque

Increased power and torque result in safer over taking and easier open road driving. Throttle response is also increased.

Years of Development

We have been tuning the Ranger PX3’s 3.2L 5-cylinder turbo diesel engines for years, and understand how they work as well as the limitation on factory hardware.

Emissions solutions

We have solutions for emission systems such as disabling the Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), Diesel particulate filter (DPF), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and associated DTC fault codes.
