2026 CFMOTO 450 Dyno Tune: Smoother Throttle Response & Better Rideability
CFMOTO 450 Dyno Tune on Our Bike Dyno
The CFMOTO 450 is a great all-around motorcycle platform, but like many modern fuel-injected bikes, one of the common complaints from riders is throttle feel.
For this 2026 CFMOTO 450, the main goal was not chasing the biggest horsepower number possible. The focus was on improving rideability, especially the “snatchy” on/off throttle response that can make low-speed riding, corner exits and everyday road riding feel less smooth than it should.
Using our bike dyno, we carried out a custom ECU tune to refine how the bike delivered its power, smooth out throttle response and improve real-world performance where the rider actually feels it.
The Concern: Snatchy Throttle Response
A common issue riders describe with modern motorcycles is a throttle that feels too sharp, abrupt or inconsistent. This is often described as:
- Snatchy throttle response
- On/off power delivery
- Jerky low-speed control
- Harsh response when rolling back onto the throttle
- Less confidence when riding through corners or traffic
While peak power figures are always interesting, they do not tell the full story of how a bike feels on the road. A motorcycle can make good power, but still feel unsettled if the throttle mapping and fuel delivery are not smooth.
That was the key focus when tuning this CFMOTO 450.
Dyno Tuning Results
After tuning, the 2026 CFMOTO 450 saw measurable gains in both horsepower and torque.
Before Tune:
34.9 hp
35.7 Nm
Rpm limit: 9500 rpm
After Tune:
37.8 hp
37.9 Nm
Rpm limit: 10,000 rpm
Total Gain:
+2.9 hp
+2.2 Nm
That works out to approximately an 8% increase in horsepower and a 6% increase in torque while also getting access to the full rev range.
While those gains are a great result, the biggest improvement was in how the bike delivered the power. The tune helped create a smoother, more controlled throttle feel, with better roll-on response and improved rideability.
Customer Feedback After the Tune
After riding the bike back from Taupo to Auckland, the customer shared some great feedback:
Just made it back to Auckland – bikes went well – definitely a noticeable difference, pulls better in roll on, and snatchiness reduced reduced significantly.
Fuel consumption coming down to Taupo was 4.4l /100km and going back to Auckland after tune was 4.0l/100km
I know the digital fuel gauges aren’t super accurate, but directionally used less fuel after tune and we rode faster going home.
I was expecting to use more fuel going home.
Overall, I’m very happy
Thanks Matt
Why Rideability Matters More Than Peak Power
With motorcycle tuning, especially on smaller-capacity bikes like the CFMOTO 450, the goal is often not just to increase the peak number on the dyno graph.
A good tune should improve how the bike feels in the real world.
That includes:
- Smoother throttle transitions, improving the bike on the road as well as on gravel
- Better roll-on acceleration
- More predictable power delivery
- Reduced jerkiness at low speeds
- Improved control when riding through corners
- A more enjoyable riding experience overall
For many riders, these improvements make a bigger difference than the final horsepower number alone.
This is why custom dyno tuning is so valuable. It allows us to see how the bike is performing under load, make controlled adjustments and confirm the results with before-and-after data.
Is a Dyno Tune Worth It for a CFMOTO 450?
If you are expecting a massive jump in peak horsepower, a naturally aspirated 450cc bike will usually have realistic limits. However, if your goal is to make the bike feel smoother, sharper and more refined, a custom dyno tune can make a noticeable difference.
A tune may be worth considering if your CFMOTO 450 feels:
- Too snatchy on the throttle
- Jerky at low speeds
- Flat when rolling on the power
- Inconsistent through the rev range
- Less smooth than expected for everyday riding
For this customer, the improvement was clear: better roll-on response, reduced throttle snatchiness and a more enjoyable ride back to Auckland.
Want to Improve How Your Bike Rides?
Whether you are chasing smoother throttle response, better roll-on performance or a more refined riding experience, our team can help assess what is possible for your motorcycle.
